The intensity of the night; how dark it was without the flickering street lights above him, and how silent it was without Jediah and Destiny's snoring, or the noises that Makyah always made with she slept. Or the fact that all he had to keep him company was a blonde haired chick controlling a bunch of zombies to protect their little camp site.
He wasn't much of a sleeper these days, at most he'd take a nap in the afternoons for about an hour, and sleep maybe two hours at night. His dreams... No, nightmares kept him from getting any real rest, it was just something to occupy his time. He sat still for a long time, thinking, staring, wondering what Lucy might be thinking. She heard him, he knew that, when he asked what she was. And her reply, though quiet, made him feel like crap. He had hurt her feelings, which was saying something. Creepers didn't normally have feelings, but she did. That made her different. Right?
Maybe. His head was feeling heavy so he let it fall back against the wall. His stomach had been rumbling for some time, but there wasn't much he could do about it aside from eating sand. And even then, there was glass everywhere and he wasn't sure how much he could take in before everything inside him was split open and he was left for zombie food. He wondered if Lucy felt hungry. Was she something that ate real food? Or drank things other then blood? He wanted to ask, but she had said it takes a lot of energy for her to keep the zombies under control. And it wasn't like he could offer her anything.
For awhile he continued to sit there. Then, out of sheer boredom he stood up. His legs were sore from not moving, and he spent a good five minutes stretching his limbs. It felt so good. Then he walked up behind her, standing about the same height as she was sitting on the table. He glanced at her, then watched the world outside their little building, then down at the hands he tucked neatly into his pockets. "I'm sorry. About before. If I hurt your feelings. I was just... Er, surprised." He wanted to pat her on the head as he did with Makyah, but he wasn't sure if she was even awake anymore.
Outside the wind seemed to pick up a bit, and the usual groanings of the zombies had turned a bit savager. They were snarling, one of them escaped Sebastian's sight, and before he could even blink it's body parts were being thrown back in front of the restaurant. Seb didn't move, out of fear and the possibility that he was dreaming. But then he saw it. A monster, looming over the rest of the zombies with just its shadow. It opened it's mouth, rows of teeth glinting from the moonlight before he let out a massive roar. Seb couldn't control the shriek he let loose this time. Even in his travels with Jediah he'd never seen a monster or demon quite this big. Falling to his behind, he shuffled backwards in the dust until his back was in perfect alignment with the wall, perhaps if they didn't move it wouldn't see them.
The thing was huge, it couldn't be that smart.

A few hours passed in concentrated silence- well, Luce was concentrating. She was on a sort of mental plateau that allowed her to conserve as much energy as possible but remain vaguely aware of her surroundings, as if she were only half-awake. Dozing. She felt Sebastian stand and walk up behind her, heard him apologize for his earlier words, but before she could contemplate a response she felt her minions grow agitated. Luce sent one of them in the direction she sensed something in, commanding the walker to attack it as an experiment.
Her mismatched eyes snapped open when it was torn to bits, and she stood in one graceful movement atop the table, glancing at her companion with a raised brow. "This ain't Wonderland, and you can't just wake up before you're killed. So, for your own sake, keep quiet and concealed." She hopped down off the table and grabbed the top sill of the window after dropping the chunk of glass she'd dirtied with her own blood multiple times over the past few hours, swinging outside with that same grace. She turned toward the devil- hah, their luck that they'd get the biggest and baddest sort of beastie- and narrowed her monochrome gaze on it.
After taking a few strides backward, Luce sunk into a fighter's crouch, prepared to dodge and parry what she could. It sucked not even having a blade or something on her, and the bits of glass inside would cut her up more than it would her opponent if she tried using them as makeshift knives. 'Not as fun as a human, but this will do!~' ... but she did have that.

He couldn't tell if it was daylight blinding him or the bright moonbeams deciding to finally break through the mass of fog above them. All he could tell was that it was bright, foggy, and it smelled like popcorn. Ooooooh. Popcorn, you most orgasmic, delicious, delicate treat eve- |
He came to his senses when a loud snap sounded over his head. Opening his eyes completely, he hissed at the bright light, and shook his head lightly as he clenched them closed. " Agh. Why is it so damn bright." " Is it really light, or are you just imagining it as such?" The voice that flowed above him wasn't familiar, and carried a light chinese accent to it. Nothing too noticable, but Sebastian had watched enough Jackie Chan and Jet Li movies to hear it. Confused, Seb tried to open his eyes once more, sitting up as he did so and clutching the back of his head as pain swept through him. " Ahhh. I feel like I've been hit by a truck." " Impossible! Trucks no longer exist!" Sebastian felt something wack him on the hands. Gasping in pain he clutched his hands in front of him, sending a glare over his shoulder at whoever savagely attacked him. What the.... Behind him wearing brown shorts, a light blue and green hawaiin shirt, and sporting a mismatched tie, wide-brimmed glasses, and propped up on a bike, sat a very hipster looking Mr. Myagi. " M-Mr. Myagi, is that you?" " One does not simply pass out in front of a girl." This time, Sebastian could see the flyswatter coming, and rolled out of the way. " I-I didn't! I mean, I guess I kind of did, but you don't see monsters like THAT every day, y'know." Sebastian wasn't entirely sure what his dreams were doing to him. Never had he dreamed of a hipster Mr. Myagi in all his years. Babes in bikinis, sure. Alien invasions in which he came out the hero, sure. Misadventures in the lands of My Little Pony? Happened more often then he'd care to admit to, but none of that was even remotely close to what he was envisioning now. " WAIT! Are you here to give me some advice!? Wax on, wax off? Be true to yourself!? Are you going to teach me a bunch of kick ass karate moves in my dreams, then make me wake up and realize that I've held this potential inside me all along? Then I can go and save Lucy from the creeper, and she'll fall into my arms and we'll save a tender ki-" This time the flyswatter hit him repeatedly and without mercy. " Idiot! What do you think this is, a movie? I'm just part of your subconscious. And you're a skinny, white boy from the subburbs, you probably couldn't even hit a devil in the back with a ten foot pole." " That wasn't really what I was looking for in terms of a pep-talk... But, I guess I understand what you're trying to say! Sebastian raised a finger towards the sky and smiled at his dream friend. " If I put my mind to something, then I can accomplish anything! Of course, it was so simple. I shouldn't be scared of a little creeper, I should be using my obvious skills in hand to hand combat to take it down." " Wait, what? No, you're not listening to me-" " Thanks, Mr. Myagi! Man this is so cool." " No, you moron, you're a wimp. You barely even stand up to that things wa-" " This is so cool. I'm telling Makyah about this dream. It's like that one I had before the apocalypse with Pamela Anderson. Only not as sexy. How do I get out of here?" " Fine. Go get yourself killed retard. Oy vey, why did I get stuck in this moron's he-" " I'M READY TO WAKE UP NOW!" Sebastian woke with a start in the real world. He was laying on his side against the wall near the back of the restaurant. Outside he could make out Lucy's outline from the candlelight that shone to his left. " Luce! Luce!" He scrambled to his feet, shouting her name as he clumsily made his way over to the window and clamored out of the building. " Have no fear, fair maiden! I've finally found my calling in life, and I'm here to save you!" He didn't stop in his ganter over to her. Instead he swept his hand down into the dust, cutting the tips of his fingers on the clump of glass and debris he picked up and tossed it (as best he could) in the demon's direction. Luce was prepared to lunge at the devil when Seb came dashing out and yelling something almost as stupid as his actions. Had the angry-looking beastie not charged at them immediately after having a handful of sand thrown at it, the blonde might've facepalmed. Instead, she wrapped an arm around Sebastian's waist and darted to the side with dizzying speed and strength. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Lucinda growled, dropping him on his ass on the sidelines before whirling to face their foe. The five remaining zombies formed a loose circle around the human male while their mistress kept herself inbetween the group and the corrupt demon.
"I'll kill you myself if you try something that stupid again!" She exclaimed, quickly jerking off her shoes and socks before the devil could gain its bearings. Tossing them to the side, she dashed foward, her bare feet kicking up sand as she made an attempt to leap nimbly onto its back and dig her fingers into the flesh on its shoulders.

"B-But, Mr. Myagi... He told me to believe in myself."
He was also riding a bike with a bell, idiot. |
The voice is his head seemed to make more sense then he did now-a-days. Seb has always seen the world as one big video game, probably because all he ever did was play video games. His human interaction was slim to none, and when he did hang out with actual people, he tended to go off into his own world and ignore them. Hadn't made him very popular with his friends, but the girls seemed to like that kind of attention ignorance. Propped up on his elbows he stared at Lucy. She was graceful in her movements, seeing as it was late at night, and the thing they were dealing with was nearly three times his height, and wider then any sumo wrestler he'd ever seen. He wasn't entirely sure why he wasn't scared by the image before him. The devil was a gruesome being, covered in welts and sores that seemed to leak every time it twisted its form. Luce sat on it's back, her bare feet digging deep into the devil's dark, reptilian-like skin. Clumps of long, gray hair hung from it's nearly bald head in greasy trails. It's eyes glowed red, malice and hate lining every inch of it's distorted face. It's nose was crooked, nearly sideways, above a lip less mouth. Long razor-sharp teeth glinted in the moonlight as the devil arched it's back in an attempt to throw her off, a loud roar echoing in the night. It wasn't successful, and began to buck, moving forwards, inching it's way closer to where Sebastian lay in the sand. He couldn't do much but watch it creep towards him. Paralysis took over Seb's body and clung to his lungs in an attempt to stop his breathing. His eyes never left the devil's, the monster seemed to be glaring into him, reaching into the darkest bits of his soul, looking for ways to bring out the worst in Sebastian. But Seb would have none of it. Breaking eye contact with the monster was more difficult then he expected, but he managed it without hurting himself, that was an improvement. Glancing down he found a piece of metal, probably part of the reinforcements used in the destroyed building behind him. It's end was sharp, pointed into the shape of an arrowhead. Climbing to his feet, he kept his gaze lowered, not wanting to be trapped by the ever approaching devil. Raising the piece of steel, Sebastian lunged forwards, slicing through the creatures arm with ease and falling through to the other side. The devil arced again, another roar piercing the otherwise silent night. Sebastian glanced back at it, his eyes once again caught in the creepers gaze. Your soul... Is mine. [/style] [STYLE=color: #000000; opacity: 0.7; padding: 4px; font-family: trebuchet ms; font-size: 10.5px; line-height: 11px; border-left: 3px solid #e87855;] WORDS Four hundred & eighty-five NOTES Le devil, is le creepy <3[/style]

[STYLE=font-size: 10px; letter-spacing: 2px; font-weight: bold; font-family: georgia; font-variant: small-caps; text-align: center;]template by falkyrin at btn![/style]

Luce hung on, digging her fingers into the devil's meaty shoulders. She gritted her teeth, the pointless thought that it'd be a bitch to get the blood and filth out from under her nails skimming through her mind. 'Under the nails, I don't really like, but blood soaking our skin?' The blonde barely resisted the urge to shudder in delight, then snarled, sounding nearly as inhuman as the devil. She lunged forward then and grabbed a thick chunk of matted gray hair, her other hand finding and cupping her foe's chin. She swiftly found a better grip despite the enraged bucking she had to cling through, then yanked his head sideways as hard as she could. With her otherworldly strength, she managed to snap his neck in a single twist.
"I'll have your shriveled heart on a platter before you'll have his soul." Luce spat, leaping off and landing in a crouch as the devil fell with a roar and a thud that might've made the ground tremble had it been made of anything but deep sand. She wiped a bit of blood off the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand, then strode up to the writhing beast and rolled him onto his stomach, drew her arm back and plunged it straight into his chest cavity. Another deafening roar was cut off abruptly when Luce tore out his heart, her arm bloody up to her elbow. She squeezed it before dropping it to the ground.
Luce looked at Sebastian, her pale eyelashes almost glowing in the moonlight and the suddenly notable coldness in the night air making goosebumps rise on her flesh. "I'm a mistake," she repeated.

His grip on the metal reinforcements became tighter. His breath caught in his throat. His eyes were wide, unfocused. His body frozen in place. The devil's eyes stared straight into his soul, even after it's collapse in the sand. What once was red was now nothing more then ash, joining the bits of sand and debris. But Sebastian knew what he saw, the images that the Devil planted in his mind was seared into his memories. The screams, the pain, the blood. Everything was lodged in his brain. And here he was, sitting in the sand, gripping the sharp edge of steel, forcing it to break the skin of his palm.
Seb couldn't be sure what had just happened to him. He remember dreaming, someone riding a bike, and then he was attacking the large devil with unabashed noobery. He couldn't remember really thinking during any of that, and then the creeper's eyes pierced his own. And everything just disappeared. Blackness was all around him, his only accompaniment the screams of the dying and the smell of copper... Blood. Sebastian shook his head. The thing was dead now, he had nothing to worry about.
"I'll have your shriveled heart on a platter before you'll have his soul." Her words still echoed through his mind as he stood up, noticing the state of his hand when he dropped the beam to the ground. With barely a second though he wiped his hand on his shirt, before shoving it in his pocket. It was dark still, and she still had zombies wandering around. He caught a glimpse of Lucy's hand, the devil's heart seeping blood over her fingers. His eyes followed the trickling trail down her arm till it dripped off her elbow and pooled beside her feet.
At this moment the blood didn't bother him, he felt like he was dreaming, as if Mr. Myagi had been the real world, and this was just... A video game. Sighing, he rand his clean hand through his ragged hair, and let his gaze drop to his feet. "Well, I feel just about useless right now.
" His voice was barely above a whisper, but it didn't matter much, at the same time he spoke she did as well. The words that rested on her lips made a shiver run down his spine, and he couldn't explain why. " I'm a mistake" " Really? Y-You don't seem like a mistake right now. I mean, you took that devil down with more grace then I could have. And it did kind of save our lives." He thought about his words for a moment. " Okay, probably just my life. I mean, I'm a complete noob compared to you. You kicked that things ass with ease, all I did was throw dust at it, screamed and tried to whack it with a stick." And that went over soooo well.Stepping towards her, he made sure to skip over the bits of blood and flesh that seemed to fall from the devil's still form. He stopped a step or two away from Lucy, his red eyes (dull compared to the devil) staring into her monochrome ones. " I'm not entirely sure what you are. But you're not a mistake." [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Luce kept her gaze locked with his for a moment, unsure of what to really reply. She eventually looked up to the sky, blowing out a breath and running her hand through her tangled hair. "I'm not human, and I never was." She said. Her face was still turned upward, but she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "I wouldn't blame you if you were scared of me- I'm even scared of myself sometimes."
Realizing that she was essentially spilling her guts to a total stranger, she closed her mouth and went to grab her bag inside the small restaurant, and put out the three candles. She didn't say another word until she had swung out of the small window again, wrapping her arms around herself and shivering a little bit even though her normal body temperature was above a human's. The nights were bitterly cold compared to the bright, unbearably hot days in the desert. "We need to get out of here. The noise will have attracted unwanted attention, but the good news is that whatever finds the corpse will be too distracted by the free meal to follow us."
The blonde was going to take Sebastian to her own hideout- she knew damn well that they wouldn't be able to get into the city at this hour, and her bolt hole was probably safer anyways. Luce was... admittedly apprehensive about revealing the location of her... home, to someone she barely knew, and didn't really trust. She'd promised herself that she'd protect him through this night, at least, and she couldn't go back on that. Besides, she'd saved his life once- would be a waste to just throw it back away.
"Come on, this way," she commented over her shoulder, starting off into a direction away from the restaurant and not quite toward the city. How she knew her way around the endless and bare desert, one would never know. Maybe it was like a pet's instinct to where home was.
