so you survived the world tearing itself apart, hurricanes, tornadoes, angry bush fires and the occasional screams of justin bieber fangirls. you've survived hell breaking loose on mortal man; demons, monsters and even the devil himself no longer phase you. you've even managed to survive the onslaught of territorial and angry zombies. and, somehow, you've crawled your tired, half-eatne, broken body to the gates of chicago to beg for sanctuary.

sorry to burst your bubble,
but the rules have changed.

[ ]YOU WERE SAYING? (4 sub-boards)
This is the random board of general fantasicalness. Yes, fantasticalness. It's where you can discuss things that have nothing to do with Twenty13. Ask questions, argue, show off your skills, be a pain in the ass, or offer some guidance to our... less fortunate survivors. Whatever you wish to do out of character, can be done in here.

[ ]THE QUARTERS
Upon stepping through the gates of Chicago you might find yourself surrounded by large, angry, guards, demons, and a wide assortment of crazy looking and possibly insane beings. But don't fret. No one will hurt you (maybe); you've just entered The Quarters. This is considered a type of trade district. Beings of all races can mingle here and trade what they have for things they probably need. It also happens to be the location of your new leader. Though he's rarely seen and flanked by several guards 25/7, he holes up at the north end of the Quarters. Very, very safe, and sound. Times are tough you know?

The Quarters is formed in a circular manner. Most of the buildings were destroyed by one thing or another, and some thought it'd be nifty to rebuild them. Instead of building them up from where their foundation originally was, they moved the buildings out and left a wide section open. Granted a few of the buildings are still pretty rundown (having been built up in less then a year), but they at least protect you against the weather. You know... The less threatening kind of weather. Like the rest of Chicago the ground is mostly dust, sand, bits of concrete and rock, it's not very clean, and you'll more then likely end up tripping over your own feet if you're not paying attention.

[ ]MERCILESS HOSPITAL
A hospital is one of the most important things a post-apocalyptic city could have. Injured and sick are brought in most hours of the day. It's easy to get hurt these days, and not just from attacks; just going out to scavenge for more food is dangerous with all the unsteady buildings, glass, piles of rubble and so forth. Lots of people with broken bones end up finding their way here.

However, the bedside manner isn't nearly as nice as it was when the doctors were being paid for it. Don't yell at the nurses, because they'll yell back and you won't be getting that lemonade and jello. Merciless Hospital is what used to be a shorter skyscraper that served as a hotel that came out of the apocalypse pretty well-intact and was renamed with a sense of humor. Hospital equipment was transferred to it from wherever it could be found.

[ ]UNION STATION
Union Station, also known as The Mortal Section, is inhabited strictly by humans. The station was, at one point, a working rail line, and though the line is still there, the cars are used as homes, restaurants, and stores. Humans are fickle creatures, compared to their demon and monster counterparts, while you may find demons ambling around in other parts of the city, you will never find one near Union Station, nor will you typically find any humans outside the Station's security. It might take them some time to get used to their new neighbors, but currently, they are content being left alone.

The building of the original Union Station was uprooted during an earth quake, and literally slid down a hill, intact, to the bottom, most eastern section of Chicago. High, barbed wire, fences surround most of Union Station, and what's left on the outside is usually guarded by the toughest people around. Above ground there are not many buildings inhabited by the locals, but there are a few places one can venture into, here and there.

[ ]DEMON'S RISE
Is literally a rising hill at the northern most part of Chicago. having risen during the latest of earth shakes, Demonn's Rise became the local hot spot for demons and a few monsters to hang out. They prefer to be able to look out over their victims neighbors and know everything and anything about... Well, everything. They are quite nosy, and pretty scary if you end up walking through their homes.

Being as un-modest as possible, these guys go all out to make, and have the biggest and the best, regardless if what they have works or is even intact. They also like shiny things, coveting everything they find interesting in trade, Demon's Rise tends to appear like a run-down and post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. Glitz, and glam, and... Well, demons.

[ ]DISTRICT THIRTEEN
Looking for a party? Need to get a bit naughty? Need some drugs, alcohol, or paraphernalia of any type? You've come to the right place. District 13 is home to the Heartbreakers. Anyone is more then welcome to walk through, but there's no guarantee you'll come back out.

The entire district is made of clubs, bars, empty hotels and large buildings where Heartbreakers of all ages make their mark in shady corners and under the strobe lights on the dance floor. You can find most any sinful thing here, and they are more than willing to share as long as you are.

[ ]OLD TOWN
Old Town is the only part of the city that actually stayed intact since the beginning. Here anyone and everyone is welcome, as long as you keep it cool. There are no restrictions on breeds, types, or who you think your daddy is, but more often than not you'll find more fallen angels, wereanimals and fey than demons and humans. Located in the southernmost part of Chicago, and a little higher up then The Quarters and Union Station, these guys have a nice view of the desert land outside the city. They also usually know who's coming through the gates before anyone else.

[ ]LINCOLN PARK ZOO
Lincoln Park zoo was once a bustling place filled with cotton candy vendors and small children. Now, it's still bustling with the living, but instead of a tourist attraction, it has become a gigantic stable. At one point, animal rights activists would try to get the animals out of the cages; now, they're trying to keep them in.

Any and all species are allowed here, as this is where pets that can't be easily kept are housed. Horses, dogs, cats- and of course the animals that started out in the zoo in the first place. Wereanimals can be found around here often, as they like to visit their debatably more feral counterparts.

00
[ ]THE GREENHOUSE DISTRICT
Since the production of nonperishable foods has come to a grinding halt, it has become necessary to rely on other sources to provide food. The Greenhouse District is where Millennium Park once stood and roughly constructed greenhouses have been put up. They are constantly tended, mostly by humans, and also equipped with heaters and humidifiers and working hoses. Nobody can afford for winter to hold up food production yet.

In a small corner of the Greenhouse District is another building that seems even more well-taken care of than the others. This building is the herb garden and doctors frequent it for medicinal plants to treat their patients with.

[ ]MANOR OF THE DAMNED (11 sub-boards)

You don't want to stray here. For anything. Especially if there's a pack of hellhounds chasing you, because those belong to the owner of this manor. Yes, inside, there are much worse things. You're better off facing a dozen mutts from whatever hell you believe in than the other inhabitants of this particular building.

The Manor of the Damned is owned by Kaylin Otto, the most powerful necromancer and the most well-known succubus in the remainder of the world. This place is creepy as hell- no pun intended. It even has the creaky, Gothic wrought-iron gates and gnarled, dead trees. The only thing even vaguely pretty about this house are the rosebushes. That's not very comforting though, seeing as they're ALIVE and the only reason the petals are blood-red is because they've recently killed someone and absorbed their body.

If you do somehow manage to escape them, they're okay with this. One, they'll fucking FOLLOW YOU and two, they're poisonous. One cut and you will be dead in two hours without the antidote- oh, did I mention the antidote is INSIDE the house?

If I were you, I'd have taken my chances with the hellhounds.

[ ]DESERT
Anything south, north, east, west, under, over, near, or far from Chicago is nothing more then desert, desert, desert. And not the desert with two s's that keeps your tummies cool in the summer time. I'm talking about a hot, dusty, cloudless terrain for nothing but hundreds of miles. Nothing green to provide shade or shelter, and the only friendly face you'll find is in the mirages that pester you into insanity.

It's a loveless place, no one will be there to offer help, no one would want to. You're on your own until you're lucky enough to find some run down building, or a group of large boulders placed awkwardly and haphazardly in random places. Don't worry though. If you don't die from starvation or dehydration, the creatures that stalk the night will be there to eat protect you.

[ ]CIVILIZATION
So occasionally you might stumble upon another city, or town, or house out in the middle of nowhere that hasn't been raped or plundered by nature, or over-run by PMS'ing zombies. These places are few and far between, and usually don't accept outsiders willingly. They are the surviving bits of that region, the only salvageable memories that people can cling to. And unlike Chicago, they are completely unprotected by anything supernatural. They are lawless bits of land, and they don't believe in courtesy.

Unlike ruins, these places have intact houses, buildings, and fences. Green is hard to come by, but a few places might have an herb garden, or spots of grass. For the most part they seem out of place in the middle of the desert. Barbed wiring over the fences, bars of the windows, some of them completely boarded up. And you can bet that there is a lovely, impenetrable, jail cell waiting for you somewhere in the compound.

Remember: Never judge a city by its nutcases.

00
[ ]RUINS
Ruins are just that: ruins. Completely and utterly destroyed cities and national monuments that appear as nothing more then rubble and slabs of rock sticking out of the desert. But don't think that these places are completely useless. Most have excellent hiding spots, camping spots, and possibly even a preferable living space (if you don't like staying with actual people, or if you hate the travel time from place to place). Ruins are usually over-run with parasites, mutants, and diseased demons that have been turned deranged by the desert heat and lack of love from humans.

When spotting a ruin, make sure you inspect the entire area, look for signs of occupants, or previous owners. And if something starts chewing on your leg: Run. Ruins that haven't been claimed by things are usually preferred spots for pirates, or nomads to spend the night, or nights with some protection at their backs. I wouldn't make a habit of living out in the open for too long, though. The desert heat may knock you on your ass during the day, but the desert cold at night can cause a lot more damage.

00
[ ]WATERWAYS
These are small, underground, and hard to find sources of clean water. Ocean water gets old after a while, and the water you find anywhere else is muddy and crawling with all kinds of tasty little parasites. Springs of fresh water are few and far between, usually hidden in mountains and underground, and on the rare occasion, in the middle of the desert.

There are also a few places that have a collection of pipes protruding from the ground. Sometimes you can find clean water in them, sometimes drinkable, and other times you can use them to bathe the desert filth off you. But again, these are hard to find, and if you find one, you better keep it a secret before it's all used up by others.

This includes, but is not limited to: dead threads, dead characters, neglected or ignored characters, characters who piss Kaylin off, topics no longer visited, advertisements no longer valid, Justin Bieber fangirls, overzealous Twilight fans, and of course the occasional hooker.
