-- HISTORY
This is correct. Our kind have been around longer than the earth - we existed in Eden, as friends and compatriots of those who lived in the paradise garden. When the progneitors were expelled from this paradise, we followed, sent to watch over them. We shared their fires, joined their hunts, tracked for them. Out of the void we made those in our image, and they became the wolves, and the wolves became the dogs, and the dogs became the domesticated and the first of the compatriots of men. And we were no longer needed for his will.
But the Great Divine does not create that which She does not intend to use, and so we were remade. There have been those of our kind - the Messagers among the shepherds - that have seen to keep mankind in check, to make sure that they follow Her most righteous path. This one was, most recently, Rochus: Patron saint of the plague, self-sacrifice and dogs. Uh, if thou wishes, thou could use that as a nickname for this one. Saint Rochus. Which...Isn't so much vanity, I guess? since this one was that one as well? I mean, only if you find it unobjectionable.
Anyways, this one has not been needed as a watcher of man for a while, and was just recently recalled into duty. Which this one thought would be great and stuff, but...well...things kind of went down the shitter, didn't they? Pardon my language, of course.
And so this one must resort, with the tools of this era, to do as he once did: to hunt for and alongside man, and keep away that which lurks in the darkness.
Amen."

-- COMBAT TALENTS
- Armed With Wings: Saint Rochus is capable of flight, via the Angelic, feathery wings affixed to his back. These can be "recalled" into his body as is necessary. Note that the wings themselves are not bound to conventional laws of physics: they are not only strong enough to bear his weight, they are also strong enough to strike, and can start, continue or end combos.
- the Dog and the Pauper: Saint Rochus is able to recover from pretty much anything which isn't instantly fatal. Diseases do pretty much nothing to him, as he will be able to recover from them almost as rapidly as they afflict him. Poisons might temporarily incapacitate him, but usually his body will reconstruct itself before serious harm happens. Even Physical injuries are regenerated remarkably quickly, and allow him to regrow wounds that would normally be irreplaceable. A slash to the chest might take a couple of days to heal fully, but a severed arm will take months. In particular, organs with a high amount of nerve connections (for example, an eye) take a WHILE to regrow, if at all.
- From the Mouth of Babes: Saint Rochus is able to bestow a "miracle" upon any character, provided A. That character is in mortal danger of losing their life or soul, B. Said miracle will be directly responsible for preserving the life/soul of said person, C. Said person will learn a valuable lesson from the serendipitous occasion and learn how to alter their ways for the good as a result, and D. are not expecting to be saved from their situation (e.g. have hit the despair horizon threshold). Assuming all of the conditions can be true, Saint Rochus can temporarily "contract" with god to resolve the situation; so long as he is explicitly working to "redeem" his target, he is granted "The Wisdom of Kings" and unlocks any strengths requiring this as a prerequisite.
- Of the Garden: In addition to a human guise, Saint Rochus can adopt the form of a wolf (winged or no) or an "in-between" form (depicted here). While in a non-human form, Saint Rochus gains increased senses of smell and hearing, but decreased sight. While in wolf form, Saint Rochus gains increased speed on foot but loses the ability to use his hands.
STRENGTHS:
Expert Marksman, Expert hand-to-hand combatant, Excellent survivalist skills, Excellent medical knowledge.
With the Wisdom of Kings: Invulnerability, Wind-based Sorcery, Lightning-based Sorcery, Fire-based sorcery, Teleportation, Constant Illumination.
WEAKNESSES:
- Thou Shalt Not Kill: Saint Rochus is incapable of killing any Son of Adam or Daughter of Eve - that is, any human, regardless of his feelings about them. He must also strive to keep any human in his presence from dying; again, regardless of his feelings about them. He is allowed to punish them, but this cannot be lethal. (Importance level: Divine Limitation. Failure to follow results in his death.)
- To Not Covet: Saint Rochus is not allowed to claim anything which does not belong to him. Among other things, he may not willingly take food or shelter (though he may be offered it, and if it is offered he may accept it). He may also not willingly have sex with any woman "claimed" by another man (has had sex with anything living or capable of thought but him), and may not have sex with any organism if the chances of procreation are either deliberately reduced or zero. (Importance level: Divine Limitation. Failure to follow results in his death).
- Unto Each Their Due: So long as it does not violate his first rule, Saint Rochus is bound to act as a judge, jury and executioner to any injustice he comes across against humans. He is allowed to set the terms of his punishment, which can be anything from mild penance to death (except against humans). (Importance level: Personal limitation. Failure to do so suspends Saint Rochus' abilities until the next sunday spent in rest and/or prayer.)
- Blessed are the Cheesemakers: Saint Rochus may never refer to himself by any title, including his real name. Saint Rochus may also never refer to the god he is an agent of by a title, though he may refer to the entity as a "her". This is to show his humility and devotion to the cause. (Importance level: Personal limitation. Failure to do so suspends Saint Rochus' abilities until the next sunday spent in rest and/or prayer.)
WEAPONS:
Ezekiel 25:17 - Saint Rochas' sentient item companion, Ezekiel 25:17 typically takes the form of a Glock 17 9mm pistol, though it can take other gun-based forms, projectile-based forms and even the forms of melee weapons (in his last resurrection, Ezekiel 25:17 was a pitchfork). Regardless of its form, Ezekiel 25:17 always deals damage proportional to the sins committed by its target; "size doesn't matter" here. On a relatively upstanding honors student who cheated on an entrance exam, it would probably leave a bruise for a couple of days. Against a demon who was a sex-trafficker of small, immigrant children? Expect it to leave quite a mess.

-- YOU THE RP'ER
RP'ING FOR HOW LONG: 2 years (chatboard), 8 years (tabletop)
TIME ZONE: American Central
OTHER CHARACTERS: None.
RP SAMPLE:
The skies rumbled overhead, still rife with the tumultuous aftermath of precipitation. It had left the streets slick and mirror-like, coating the skyscrapers with a wet, dripping finish. The air hung heavy with humidity and a fresh, earthen smell.
This bothered Zoé, though she did her best not to show it. The weather was a factor entirely out of the control of her and her superiors; as this was the case, it was her duty to endure it without complaint. It would make jogging a bit more unpleasant, though, but training was training. It would not be so to neglect her physical fitness on the first day of her arrival.
She had already partially stripped down; since she had not been officially assigned to the lab, she was not currently "on-duty", and could afford to dress partially in her civvies. The Pants would, of course, be necessary; however, she had swapped her jacket for a plain, blue T-shirt. She had stretched and rested; there was nothing left for her to do but actually go on that jog, get a feel for the city.
Right.
Zoé set off, at first only hearing the regular beat of her shoes against concrete. Despite the towering skyscrapers overhead, there were few people to be found - the city was dense, but small. Two blocks in, she turned left.
Under most other circumstances, the sight of someone else would not have given Zoé pause. There was nothing particularly extraordinary about this woman, either; a tight bun of inky black hair and a smooth, olive-skinned face were nothing completely extraordinary. There was something about the way that she carried herself, though.
Reportedly, there were separate military contingents transferred to this assignment, from all varieties of branch, rank and nationality. If this woman was involved...if she outranked her...
Zoé slowed down as she approached the other woman, but did not speak. Even Lincoln once said: "Better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
