As self proclaimed god and king of fey, there was something vitally important that he was still missing, a queen. Of course, a harem of concubines would have been the next step, but he couldn't be picky just yet. Luckily enough, rumour had it there was a queen of sorts in the manor he was headed for. He didn't quite get if she was the queen of the damned, the queen of dance or the queen of dams, but that wasn't important in the slightest. All he cared about was the queen part, as that would make his claim to the throne all that much more legit.
Coming up to the manor, Ilumial quickly came to the conclusion that dance and dams were out of the question, as the place looked more like something from an old vampire tale than that of a water expert or a musical star. Ah well, he was a fey, and as such he was hardly spooked as easily as an ordinary human. He also wasn't as easily stopped by large gates, a vine bursting from the ground and wrapping around his waist, placing him carefully on the other side of the fence. At least his future queen had some nice looking trees and flowers in her garden. It could do with a bit more colour, but that was a matter for another time. Now where was his lovely queen?

Anyone with a bit of common sense would know better than to simply barge into the courtyard of the Manor of the Damned. Maybe Ilumial hadn't heard the tales, not that many people lived to spread them. Oh well, he'd just have to find out the hard way. Most egotistical assholes wound up doing something regrettable and getting bit on the ass by it later anyways. This would likely be no different.
Those 'nice-looking' trees were gnarled and dead, with black bark that almost looked charred from a distance. The ground was cracked and dry most places, with the occasional tuft of stubborn grass jutting out of it here or there and the only thing that looked vaguely alive was the lush mass of rosebushes around the great mansion. The leaves were thick and dark green, and the blooms were the most vibrant crimson a rose could have. Odd, considering there was no water nearby, nor any indication there had ever been water.
Nearly as soon as the Fey male set foot on the property, there were low snarls echoing around him. In the shadows- the dead trees and thick, wilted shrubbery provided good cover- a couple sets of eyes gleamed in varying shades of yellow. Maybe a good idea would be to get the hell out?

Anybody who had even the slightest bit of common sense would have gotten out upon noticing all the dead trees, charred ground and the snarling of unholy beasts, but Ilumial seemed to lack any such concerns. Instead he formed a tiny raincloud in the palm of his hand and sent it out and about to water the plants as if he was the new gardener, before turning his attention to the glowing yellow eyes.
"Oooh, puppies. Come here boy, come here boy. Want to play fetch? Do you want to play fetch? Who's a good puppy, who's a good puppy?" They fey was acting with an almost childlike glee, clearly excited to have found his first sign of life near the mansion. Any queen who liked animals was a queen he could get used to.
"Where's your mommy? I have to speak with her, can you go fetch her?"

Apparently this guy was even more brain-dead than the narrator initially pegged him for. Cheerfully instigating play with hellhounds wasn't something someone (intelligent) who treasured their life made a habit of doing. The lion-sized creatures skulked out of the brambles, their narrowed eyes lacking any warmth. The only game of fetch they wanted to play was one with this foolish Fey's dismembered limbs and they snapped their jaws hungrily, saliva dripping off their long fangs.
Fortunately for the arrogant and self-proclaimed god-king, their mommy was damn near omnipotent in regards to events on her property, and this had captured her brief attention span for the moment. Karis stepped down the steps to her manor's double doors, the ones with the scary gargoyle-esque brass knockers, and held her long black gown up so she didn't step on it. It already had a worn hem, and was slitted up the side to reveal a stretch of tanned thigh while flimsy straps bound it to her slender torso.
"Heel." Karis commanded in a sultry voice, her scarlet eyes on her unwelcome visitor with a calculating and cold indifference. The hounds went to take their seats by her side immediately and without question. "What have we here? A pretty Fey boy with delusions of grandeur?" The succubus chuckled, crossing her arms a couple of yards from Ilumial.

Aww. He wanted to play with the puppies! A bit disappointed that the lady of the house had called her adorable little dogs away, Ilumial took a step forward and made a small motion with his hand, forming a single pitch-black rose in it. Another step forward and he offered the flower to Karis as a gift, bowing his head ever so slightly.
"Allow me to introduce myself, fair lady. Ilumial Dawnstrider. Thank you for the compliment on my looks, although you certainly deserve one as well. As we speak my followers are erecting a temple in my honour for my part in saving Chicago, but the throne would look a lot better if I had such a beautiful queen to share it with. In fact, anybody I ask around here says you are the most beautiful queen of all."
Well... you didn't become king and god if you didn't know how to make a lady feel important, right? Considering himself a connoisseur when it came to women, he couldn't exactly see this going any other way than Karis throwing herself in his arms and begging him to be her king. After all, he was just that awesome, was he not?

Karis plucked the rose from Ilumial's fingertips, examining it with a raised brow throughout his little speech. Her amused eyes settled on his boyishly handsome face and when he was done, she couldn't help but laugh loudly at his proposal. She tossed the black rose to his feet with a haughty smirk, crossing her arms. "A pretty tongue as well, but unfortunately rather empty-headed." She shook her head and turned to ascend the steps up to her manor, stopping at the second. This made her even taller, not that she didn't already tower over Ilumial in the four-inch stilettos she wore. Karis glanced over her shoulder, looking irritated.
"You've wasted my time enough, now get out of my sight with your nonsensical babbling. I'm not known for my patience, so I suggest you make haste before I decide to save the rest of the world the trouble of dealing with you." No, Karis definitely wasn't known for her patience, and nothing irked her more than the arrogant fools who thought their overconfidence in their weak abilities and flattering words could get them whatever they wanted.

That was it? She was going to leave already? Well this was just silly, some queen she was. For starters, she hadn't even worn a crown. Must have been more of a title than actual royalty. He did need a crown however, where was he going to find one? He really didn't want to leave just yet, he hadn't even played with the puppies yet. All in all the visit to this house was rather boring.
"But... we're not done. And I haven't even played with your puppies yet. What's wrong? Was the rose not black enough? I can make you a new one, you know. Or a thousand, if you want to cover your entire house in them. Then you can call yourself the queen of thorns and impale all those silly scurrying humans against the walls. Or... I could make a big moat and you can fill it with undead crocodiles. We'll have so much fun together, I promise."
Nope, Ilumial wasn't one to leave when his time had run out. He boldly stood his ground despite all warnings, insisting he'd get to play with the dangerous hellhounds. At least he was brave. Or simply too stupid to understand the concept of danger.

Karis was actually kind of stunned, actually, at this false king's blatant idiocy. She looked at him with the most contempt and disdain she could muster, almost hoping she came off as condescending. She simply could not imagine Ilumial was very old, and by his immature mentality she would peg him as just what he looked; a cocky Fey boy in his early- to mid-twenties, maybe even thirties if she was pushing it. He acted like a small child begging his mother to buy him a new toy, promising to clean his room and do the dishes for a month if she would just get him that one toy. Karis shook her head, wrinkling her nose in her disgust. If there was anything she hated more than arrogant losers, it was spoiled children.
"Get out." The Queen of the Damned opened one of the double doors and slipped inside gracefully, the hellhounds slinking off into the shadows of the yard once more. She wasn't even going to bother with killing the Fey boy. He wasn't worth her time or energy, and she made that very clear as she closed the door promptly behind her.

"Hey, puppies, where are you going?" Completely forgetting about the queen he had come to get, she wasn't all that pretty anyway and he could clearly do better, he turned his attention to the hellhounds instead. It was easy to find pretty girls, finding puppies as big as this was an entirely different matter. The 'get out' part was completely ignored, and he instead chose to hear 'stick around and play with my hellhounds'.
He created a large branch in his hand and threw it towards the shadows, clapping excited in an attempt to get the hellhounds to realize that this was fun. "Here boy, bring me the stick. You'll love it, it'll be great fun. Every dog worth his weight has played fetch at least once in their life, and now it's your turn. Come on then boy, you can do it. Just take the stick in your mouth and bring it to me. Who's a good boy? Yes you are. You're a good puppy!"
Yes, Ilumial seemed to have some sort of mental deficiency. Perhaps it was stupidity, or perhaps he was just so incredibly fucking awesome, it made no sense to other people.
